Kinja'd!!!

This is not how we planned to leave the Glen. Too much rain for us... Even with mud & snow tires and 4wd.

Kinja'd!!!

Luckily reinforcements arrived. We were freed.

Kinja'd!!!

Result the first time trying to free...

Jeez, that is one big ass tow truck. I’d imagine that would be quite expensive.

Oof! I bet that wrecker set you back a bit.

Hopefully you had a good time beforehand.

I bought plastic traction mats in case i need to get out in snow, maybe they would’ve helped? Mine were $15 and i just leave them in the back of my Montero

Maybe, first time we’ve been stuck this badly so we weren’t too sure how to get freed

I think they said it was free, don’t remember the reason why though. Track rental maybe?

I think you’d have had one hell of a time getting out as well I’d think. Ground was really soft.

So no one around had a winch? Or was there really nothing to tie around until the HD tow truck got there?

I had to use a comealong on my Ford a few weeks back when I drove it into a hole in my backyard.

I got 4x8 sheet of expanded mesh front work, 1/8 inch thick. Cost about as much as a sheet of plywood. Cut it into strip 4 feet long and 18 wide. They are super helpful for anything muddy., but also messy.

I think my S4 would have some issues with ground that soft. Those are fairly deep tracks from where he got winched out.

Most around us had left already, hadn’t seen any winches around either. We’ve got big tow hooks on front but other than that it was open near the site.

Those HD wreckers are expensive if you hire them. I need to check if they are covered by AAA.

What tires did you have on it? LT M&S or All-Terrain (the next step on the way to serious off road tires)?

Cooper Discovery A/T3s.

Kinja'd!!!

There’s the tread pattern on dry land. And our Bilsteins.

Not sure. The track hires then for the weekends for this reason so we, luckily, got it for free.

Audis are notoriously bad at hauling 5th wheelers.

It also has Cooper Discovery A/T3s

They did pretty well in the snow this past winter but the ground was extremely soft to be fair. Plus we had the weight of the trailer on the truck too. When we didn’t have the trailer on it we pulled right on out in 4Lo it was the extra weight from the trailer that wasn’t helping. Like you sank a good half inch just walking around the ground was so wet.

Now I can creep home after Atlanta’s next Snowmageddon. I mean, after everyone else parks on the side of the road.

Of course not. That’s not on the current list of crap that needs fixing. :)

Not when the 7 blade connector is missing the electric brakes, someone used quick taps to put in a 5th wheel 7 blade connector (rather than using either a in-line plug harness or the camper harness), the instrument cluster needed replacing (due to only the fuel gauge sort of working), and it needing fresh Dexcool and a new radiator drain plug...

At some point, I’ll likely need to refresh the bushings and such on the suspension.

Yeah, you’ve gotta project ahead of you for sure. We put those one in May of 2012 I think. When it was a year old. We hit 44,444 mi at the track this weekend. Was pretty cool.
